Fundraising:
Fundraising is a crucial as it enables SANZAF to secure financial resources necessary to implement impactful projects and initiatives that directly benefit individuals and communities in need. These funds support vital programs such as healthcare, education, and social services, allowing NGOs to make a meaningful and sustainable difference in the lives of those they aim to assist. SANZAF Western Cape hosts events such as the annual SANZAF Fundraising Dinner, Breakfast in the Park hosted at Kirstenbosch Gardens and Braai Days throughout the year.
Youth
Youth-cantered projects are crucial for an NGO as they empower the next generation, channelling their energy into positive initiatives, and fostering leadership skills, creating a ripple effect for lasting societal impact and sustainable development. By investing in youth, NGOs ensure a dynamic and resilient foundation for the future. SANZAF Western Cape hosts a number of different youth projects throughout the year such as holiday camps, career expos and life coaching workshops.
Back To School
SANZAF’s Back-to-School campaign is facilitates the supply of essential school supplies, uniforms, and resources, such initiatives remove barriers to learning, fostering long-term positive impacts on the lives of children, their families, and the community at large. Every year, SANZAF Western Cape provides students in need with the necessary stationary required for the school year.
Skills Development:
Skills development is integral to empowering individuals by enhancing their employability and fostering economic independence. By providing training and education in various fields, SANZAF equips people with the tools needed to secure sustainable livelihoods, breaking the cycle of poverty and contributing to overall community development.
SANZAF Port Elizabeth contributes to this through:
CAD Training – SANZAF sponsors students through the CAD Training Centre (Computer Accounting Development) where students complete their Computer Skills course over a 8 week period and are assisted with job placement. The courses offered at CAD allow students individual hands-on training. Education and self-development is important - the key to being successful is motivation.
Vocational Training - Vocational education and training is a key aspect of the SANZAF Education Empowerment (SEED) programme. SANZAF Western Cape partners with educational institutions to provide training that includes entrepreneurship, panel-beating and various technical trades.
Zakah Advocacy:
As the largest Zakah collection and distribution organisation in the country, SANZAF holds the educating of the public on the third pillar of Islam as highest priority. Through the divine tool of Zakah, Islam aims to alleviate poverty, foster empathy, and create a more equitable society where economic well-being is shared among the community. SANZAF achieves this n the Western Cape through Jumuah campaigns and Zakah workshops at various Masajid and venues which includes the annual Women Zakah Seminar moulded specifically for females.
Imam Ta'awun Programme
In 2021, SANZAF, in partnership with The Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) is proud to announce the launch of the Ta’awun Imamat Programme (Imam Assistance Programme) that aims to ensure that imams earn a living wage aligned with their qualifications and experience whilst empowering the community. Selected Imams that service disadvantaged communities are paid a salary from the Imam Assistance Fund account which is managed by SANZAF, who produce annual audited statements.
The Programme aims to:
Provide a living salary to Imams from areas in and around the Western Cape where the respected regional masjid committee does not have the resources to provide a monthly salary to the Imam.
A medical aid (Hospital Plan).
UIF
Providing financial stability for the Imam so he may focus completely on servicing his community in which he is employed and therefore providing an added benefit to that community.
Outreach:
Outreach projects bridge gaps, connect with communities in need, and amplify the organization's impact, fostering a collective sense of empowerment and solidarity. Through outreach, SANZAF can directly address diverse challenges, ensuring inclusivity and sustainable positive change. SANZAF Western Cape hosts and facilitates a number of outreach initiatives such as Outreach Childhood Cancer Awareness and Outreach Senior Citizen's Wellness Programmes.
