Food Security:
SANZAF has consistently dedicated itself to combating food insecurity through a variety of interconnected programs designed to improve and empower communities across South Africa. Among these endeavours is the commitment to addressing the essential requirement for nutrition and alleviating hunger among the most disadvantaged. SANZAF Ladysmith provides weekly meals to those in need in the town and surrounding areas.
Project Rahma:
Projects Rahma is a project dedicated to caring for the elderly and plays a crucial role in addressing the unique needs and vulnerabilities of this demographic, ensuring dignified and compassionate support in their later years. By providing services such as healthcare, social engagement, and assistance with daily living, these initiatives contribute to the well-being of the elderly, fostering a sense of community and respecting the valuable contributions they have made throughout their lives. SANZAF Ladysmith runs an annual initiative with local schools where the often forgotten elderly are treated to a day of shopping for essentials, receive gifts and are celebrated with a dinner in their honour.
Borehole project:
By providing communities with safe and reliable water sources, such initiatives not only prevent waterborne diseases but also empower individuals, particularly women and children, by freeing up time spent fetching water and enabling them to pursue education and economic opportunities. SANZAF Ladysmith’s Borehole project in the rural area of Chively has provide residents with access to clean and drinkable water to the area for the last 4 years.
Madressa:
Supporting local Madaris is important as they contribute to the preservation of cultural and spiritual heritage, fostering a sense of community and shared identity among believers. These initiatives often facilitate the upkeep of religious institutions and support the students who are often from disadvantaged areas. SANZAF Ladysmith achieves this by sponsoring meals, student fees and providing exciting initiatives such as Eid gifts to Madaris in the surrounding areas of Ladysmith.
