As we present this year's Integrated Report, I am filled with profound sense of gratitude at what we have accomplished together. This past year has been one of remarkable achievement and significant growth as we commemorated SANZAF's 50th anniversary, a golden milestone that speaks volumes about the enduring relevance of our mission and the unwavering support of our community.
GRATITUDE AMIDST ACHIEVEMENT
Through the Will of the Almighty, I am humbled to report that we have not only met but exceeded the ambitious financial targets we set for ourselves, collecting over R225 Million, the highest income in our 50-year history. This exceptional performance comes at a time when economic pressures continue to mount for many, making the generosity of our donors all the more remarkable. Our financial success is not merely a testament to commitment to deliver on our mandate, but rather a reflection of the deep trust our community places in SANZAF as the custodian of their Zakah.
To our loyal donors who have demonstrated encouraging support to our cause, some for decades and across generations, we extend our heartfelt appreciation. Your dedication has enabled us to expand our reach and deepen our impact in ways that truly embody the transformative power of Zakah as the Divine model of poverty alleviation. In times of economic uncertainty, your steadfast contributions have been the bedrock upon which our service to the community stands.
RESILIENCE IN CHANGING TIMES
This past year has tested the resilience of communities worldwide. Local challenges of rising living costs, unemployment and social instability have been compounded by international humanitarian crises that continue to weigh heavily on our collective consciousness. Yet, in the face of these challenges, our organisation has demonstrated remarkable adaptability and unwavering commitment to our mandate.
Our team also shown exceptional resilience by not only maintaining but enhancing our service delivery despite these difficult circumstances. We have adapted our approaches, streamlined our processes and innovated our solutions to ensure that we continue to meet the evolving needs of our beneficiaries. This adaptability has been critical as we witness an expanding beneficiary pool that now includes families who, until recently, were financially self-sufficient.
THE POWER OF COLLECTIVE EFFORTS
The achievements of the past year stand as a powerful testimony to what can be accomplished when we unite in purpose. R50 Million was invested in our flagship SEED initiative, the SANZAF Education, Empowerment and Development Programme, creating meaningful pathways out of poverty. We’ve also seen over 1,000 worthy students enrolled in Islamic Studies, nurturing spiritual and academic growth. And during Qurbani, 1.4 Million beneficiaries received meals produced from the meat, a reflection of the scale and compassion of our collective efforts.
Our partnerships with businesses, trusts, governmental entities and community organisations have multiplied our impact and extended our reach. These collaborations have enabled us to leverage diverse expertise, resources and networks in service of our common goal, transforming lives through the principles of Zakah.
Equally significant has been the collective effort within our organisation. Our Board Members and Trustees have provided invaluable guidance and governance. Our dedicated SANZAF team worked tirelessly, often beyond expectations, to ensure that our operation reflects excellence and integrity. Our volunteers have given generously of their time and skills, embodying the spirit of service that is central to our faith.

The commemoration of our 50th anniversary has been a time of reflection, celebration and renewed commitment. For five decades, SANZAF stood as a beacon of hope and a channel of blessing, connecting those who give with those in need. This remarkable journey has been characterised by faithful adherence to our founding principles while continuously evolving to meet changing circumstances.
During this milestone year, we have taken time to honour our history, celebrate our achievements and express gratitude to all who have contributed to our journey. From humble beginnings to our present national footprint, each step of our organisational development has been guided by the principle of excellence in serving the community and fulfilling the objectives of Zakah.
EMBRACING THE DIGITAL FUTURE
As we look toward the next 50 years, we recognize that relevance requires innovation. Our digital transformation initiatives started to take momentum this past year, with enhancements to our online platforms, improved case management system and more accessible digital payment options. These advancements are not merely technological upgrades but strategic investments in extending our reach and improving our service to both donors and beneficiaries.
Our refreshed digital presence, including our revitalized website and enhanced social media engagement, reflects our commitment to meeting stakeholders where they are in an increasingly connected world. These platforms have become vital channels for Zakah advocacy, transparent reporting on our activities and facilitating contributions with ease and security.
BALANCING IMMEDIATE RELIEF AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Throughout the year, we have maintained our commitment to balancing immediate welfare relief with long-term development initiatives. Our sustainable food programs and emergency assistance have provided critical support to those in urgent need, while our Education, Empowerment and Development Programmes (SEED) continue to build pathways out of poverty through education and skills development.
This dual approach that addresses immediate needs while investing in sustainable solutions, continue to remain central to our strategy. It reflects our understanding that true poverty alleviation requires both compassionate response to current suffering and strategic interventions to break cycles of dependency.
