SANZAF Youth Week

From weeks of planning we finally present: SANZAF Youth Week

In a rapidly changing world, it is crucial to reconnect with our heritage and mosques, as it shapes our identity and our community. SANZAF Youth Week, celebrated during Heritage Month from Wednesday (25th of September) to Sunday (29th of September), highlights this by bringing young people together to explore and honour the legacies of their ancestors.

This year, the event is further energised by the introduction of the Amazing Race and the Hadith reading, an adventure that combines the thrill of competition with cultural exploration. Heritage is the foundation of society, encompassing traditions, languages and values passed down through generations. For the youth, understanding their heritage fosters a sense of belonging and identity. During Youth Week, participants will engage in activities that celebrate the diverse histories of their communities while addressing modern challenges. Workshops, discussions and cultural performances will help bridge the gap between past and present.

The Amazing Race, a key highlight, takes participants through cultural and historical landmarks, challenging their knowledge, teamwork and problem-solving skills. It serves as an educational tool, allowing youth to connect with their heritage in a memorable way.

Ultimately, Youth Week promotes and reminds that the youth are the custodians of the future. By celebrating their heritage and connecting with their mosques, they prepare to lead, carrying forward the traditions and wisdom of their ancestors while navigating the challenges of the modern world. SANZAF Youth Week is in collaboration with our Youth partner Khuddamul-Islam and the participation of AMR Youth (Portlands), Goodwood Islamic Society Youth, Paarl Muslim Youth Movement, Masjied Quba Youth club (Northpine), Arwah Al-Shabab (Panorama).
