It's all about compassion...
SANZAF's signature seasonal project, Operation Winter Warmth will be launched nationally at all its offices in South Africa.
A large majority of children and the aged live in abject poverty in South Africa. Hence, SANZAF's Operation Winter Warmth Campaign is targeted at underprivileged children, the aged and the homeless in need across the country.
In the Western Cape the focus is specifically on deserving school children in the various communities. Our objective is to provide these deserving school children with a woolly beanie, scarf and gloves to protect them from the cold. The aged in our community are also particularly vulnerable to the cold weather. Chances are we all know an aged person who fits the above description. Thousands of our aged in countless informal settlements and in old age institutions will be afflicted by the severe cold winter weather. They have little or nothing to keep them warm.
In Gauteng the focus will be on the Aged and destitute families who will be provided with a range of winter clothing items so that they could select the relevant items what they need, adopting the Islamic Principle of equality, equity and dignity. Beneficiaries will identify what they need - the size, the colour - from a variety of items.
Similarly our offices in Kwazulu Natal and the Eastern Cape will provide blankets, comforters, and winter jackets to communities in need.
"Collaboration with like-minded people and our contributors enables us to expand our reach and fulfil our mission – providing quality new winter items for children and communities in need.
We work with individuals, corporate donors, community and faith based service organizations looking to give back through cause marketing programs. We also work with manufacturers and transportation partners who provide in-kind support that help us work so efficiently.
Operation Winter Warmth responds to local communities with a powerful, national advantage as it addresses the immediate and critical needs for appropriate clothing during the cold winter months.
"Operation Warm Warmth can be leveraged to go beyond warmth, to strengthen relationships between our partners and their communities and to facilitate positive outcomes that help break the cycle of poverty" said Sajid Dawray, National Chairperson of SANZAF.
Through our work, Operation Winter Warmth advocates for awareness of the impact of poverty on families and communities, and demonstrates how even one person can make a positive difference in the life of a person in need.
