SANZAF 5 Pillars Quiz in Makhaza, Khayelitsha

A massive Shukran to all those who helped make the SANZAF 5 Pillars Quiz that took place in Khayelitsha, a success. Additionally, appreciation goes out to the Western Cape Shura Council for their collaboration with SANZAF in providing the best for the contestants who took part in the quiz.

The event was greatly attended and proved that one can combine exciting finger-to-the-buzzer fun and education, especially when teaching the youth about their Deen.

12 Madaris took part in the quiz spanning from areas such as Philippi, Khayelitsha, Gugulethu, Crossroads, Kuilsriver, Mfuleni and Langa in the Western Cape.

Congratulation to the learners who came out tops:
In a tie for fourth place were Khalid Badi from the Masjidul Asimari Madrasah and Shaban Gqamane from Masjid Murtaza, in third was Kheir Umar and in first place was the 11-year-old Ismael Hossein, both from the Muzdalifah Al-Imdaadiyya where their teacher Abdulhamid Salim Wema, prepped and motivated them to participate in the SANZAF 5 Pillars Quiz.

All the contestants were thoroughly prepared and worked very hard, undoubtedly they all came out as winners and this is thanks to the enthusiastic and dedicated teachers they all had. Alhamdullilah.

SANZAF Durban Senior Citizen Fun Day

SANZAF has always been compassionate towards the plight and needs of the Senior Citizens. A variety of SANZAF programmes are consistently instituted in ensuring the well-being of our Senior Citizens. One of these programmes is the Senior Citizen Fun Day that took place on the 26 October 2016 at Berea Rovers Sports Ground, Durban.

SANZAF invited senior citizens from Tafta, Dafta, Age in Action, Aryan Benevolent Homes, Zimbambeleni Old Age Home, Clayton Homes, Natal Settlers, Newlands East Seniors, Chatsworth Seniors and Cesca for a Senior Citizen Fun Day. Around 450 senior citizens participated in the Fun Day programme.

The guest of honour was Mrs. Zuleikha Mayat, who is a renowned author. The 87-year-old was active in the struggle against the apartheid government in Durban where she also organised a women's community group for social change.

SANZAF partnered with Playworks Team building and Training, who conducted all the fun interactive activities for the day.
